It’s a Three-Peat Win for Malt in the International Guernsey Show

MADISON, WIS. – Valley Gem Atlas Malt-ET, the winning Six-Year-Old & Older Cow, took home the honor of Grand Champion Female, Senior Champion Female, Best Bred & Owned Animal and Best Uddered Cow of the International Guernsey Show on Tuesday, October 4. Exhibited by Valley Gem Farms of Cumberland, Wisconsin, they were awarded the Allen Hetts Grand Champion Trophy and the $1,000 Udder Comfort Grand Champion Award. This is the third consecutive year that Malt has claimed Grand and Senior Champion Female honors.

Reserve Grand Champion Female and Reserve Senior Champion was Springhill Kojack Uno-ET, the second-place Six-Year-Old & Older Cow. She was exhibited by Ty & Ean Mader and Faith Ling of Springfield, Missouri. Uno was awarded the Burton Lane Trophy for her Reserve Grand Champion Female title.

Intermediate Champion honors went to the winning Junior Two-Year-Old Cow, Heritage Brook Lb Trillium-ET, exhibited by Springhill and Elmhurst of Big Prairie, Ohio. Reserve Intermediate Champion was Knapps Copper Tambi Wiz, the first-place Senior Two-Year-Old, exhibited by Knapp Guernseys, A Fraley and F & D Borba of Epworth, Iowa.

Gladheart Beau Desi-ET, the first-place Spring Yearling Heifer, was named Junior Champion and received the Norman E. Magnussen Memorial Award. She was shown by Edward Crossland of Cumberland, Maryland. Following Desi as the Reserve Junior Champion and first-place Fall Heifer Calf was Prairie Gem Midnight Storm-ETV, exhibited by Dylan & Cameron Ryan of Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin.

Claiming Premier Breeder, Premier Exhibitor and Premier Breeder of the Heifer Show honors was Knapp Genetics of Epworth, Iowa. Indian Acres American Pie was Premier Sire. In the heifer show, Misty Meadows Farm of New Paris, Pennsylvania was the Premier Exhibitor and Hi Guern View Levi Drone was the Premier Sire.

Official judge Phillip Topp of Botkins, Ohio and associate judge Tim Abbott of Enosburg, Vermont placed a total of 197 animals in the International Guernsey Show.
