Make That Two Grand Champion Wins for Malt
MADISON, WIS. – Valley Gem Atlas Malt-ET, the winning Six-Year-Old & Older Cow, took home the honor of Grand Champion Female and Best Bred and Owned of the International Guernsey Show, Friday, October 1. Malt was awarded; the Allen Hetts Grand Champion Trophy, the $1,000 Udder Comfort Grand Champion Cash Award and the Douglaston Manor Farm Trophy for her breeder-exhibitor, Valley Gem Farms of Cumberland, Wisconsin. Reserve Grand Champion and Reserve Senior Champion was Springhill Kojack Uno-ET, the first-place Five-Year-Old Cow. She was exhibited by Ty & Ean Mader and Faith Ling of Springfield, Missouri. Uno was awarded the Burton Lane Trophy for her Reserve Grand Champion title.
Intermediate Champion honors and the Eugene Nelson Intermediate Champion Award went to the winning Junior Three-Year-Old Cow, Dix-Lee Method Journey, shown by Whitney Lee Yerina of Phillipsburg, Missouri. Reserve Intermediate Champion was Dix-Lee Kojack Dont Doubt Me-ETV, the first-place Senior Two-Year-Old, exhibited by Haley Beukema & Lauryn Weisensel of New Richmond, Wisconsin.
Thurston Farm Popeye Addyson, the first place Fall Yearling Heifer, was named Junior Champion and received the Norman E. Magnussen Memorial Award. She was shown by Howacres & Mill Bridge Farm of Meriden, New Hampshire. Following Addyson as the Reserve Junior Champion and first-place Fall Heifer Calf was Springhill Tiller Calico-ETV, exhibited by Clay Hershberger & Sandy Putt of Sugarcreek, Ohio.
Premier Breeder and Premier Exhibitor honors were awarded to Springhill of Big Prairie, Ohio. In the heifer show, Austin and Jenna Knapp received Premier Breeder, and Warwick Manor, Kevin & Dina Stoltzfus from East Earl, Pennsylvania was the Premier Exhibitor. Indian Acres American Pie was Premier Sire. Premier Sire of the Heifer Show was Hi Guern View Levi Drone.
Official judge Molly Sloan of Columbus, Wisconsin and associate judge Mike West of Orangeville, Ontario, Canada placed a total of 254 animals in the International Guernsey Show.
